A planning model for Qur’an useful-life and annual collection capacity
An editable model for separately estimating the normal annual collection flow from households, Masjids, Madrasas and institutions, and the verified backlog-clearance load from past disasters, so that storage, transport, manpower, restoration and final-processing capacity can be planned.
This calculator is a planning tool, not an official census.
Inputs such as Muslim households, Masjids, Madrasas, institutions, copies per unit and annual unusable rate should be based on verified surveys or documented operational data. That is why every source input in this version starts at0.
Enter your verified / planning inputs to calculate capacity.
| Source | Estimated Units | Avg. Copies / Unit | Annual Unusable % | Indicative Turnover | Copies / Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Households | — | 0 | |||
| Masjids | — | 0 | |||
| Madrasas | — | 0 | |||
| Other Institutions | — | 0 |
0.75 kg, 312 days and a 25% reserve are editable planning assumptions only; replace them when field data becomes available.
There is no fixed “expiry year”; condition, usage, paper, binding, climate and storage are the key factors.
This model does not directly predict physical life. Instead, field data is used to identify what percentage of copies from each source actually move into repair, replacement or retirement categories each year.
As a planning approximation,
Main Calculation Steps
From Collection Points to central processing.
- District-wise collection-point sizing
- Pickup / vehicle route frequency
- Temporary and central storage sizing
- Drying / quarantine space for wet or contaminated material
- Restoration / rebinding manpower
- QR / batch handling throughput
- Shariah review and final-approval workflow capacity
- Annual operating budget and phased investment planning
Qur’ans damaged in historical floods should be separated from the normal annual rate.
If the exact total of historical disaster-affected material in Kerala and Tamil Nadu is not currently known, an estimate should not be presented as “fact.” A verified backlog should first be built through public reporting, Masjid/Madrasa surveys and household recovery drives before entering it into the calculator.
Before finalising Final Design Capacity, QPN conducts a comprehensive district-level survey to collect accurate information.
Our inputs are validated by analysing sample household surveys, Masjid/Madrasa surveys, institutional stock information, district-level Collection Centre records and pilot collection history. This planning model is based on traceability — the ability to identify and substantiate the source of every data point used.
