Respect for the Qur’an must be preserved at every stage.
QP Network is building a responsible system to receive old, damaged or unused Mushafs, inspect their condition, preserve what can be preserved, restore recoverable copies, and return suitable copies to beneficial use instead of allowing them to enter ordinary waste.
No Qur’an should reach ordinary waste because of uncertainty, lack of awareness or lack of access to a proper handover system.
The Qur’an should never become part of ordinary waste.
Whether a Qur’an is new, worn after years of use, torn, water-damaged or no longer readable, the responsibility to handle it with respect does not end.
Homes, masjids, madrasas and institutions may accumulate damaged or unused Mushafs and pages containing Qur’anic verses. When there is no clear way to hand them over safely, they can become mixed with old books, paper waste or other discarded material.
Such situations often arise from uncertainty, lack of awareness or the absence of an accessible collection system rather than deliberate disrespect.
Preserve as much as possible. Reuse where appropriate. Final handling only as a last stage.
QP Network is not designed to send Qur’an copies directly for disposal. Each received copy should first be assessed. Usable copies remain in use; recoverable copies can move to repair and restoration; suitable surplus copies can be redistributed where there is a genuine need.
Only copies that have no practical preservation or reuse path should move to an authorised review for further handling in accordance with approved Shariah-sensitive guidance and procedures.
There are systems for obtaining a new Qur’an. There should also be a safe system for handing over an old one.
A family, masjid or madrasa should not be left wondering what to do when a Mushaf can no longer be used.
QP Network aims to provide a permanent public pathway: find a verified Collection Point, request pickup where service is available, and ensure received copies move through a structured preservation process.
A structured pathway from collection to the authorised final stage.
01 — Collection: Receive Mushafs safely from homes, masjids, madrasas and institutions.
02 — Inspection: Examine each copy and classify it according to condition.
03 — Repair & Restoration: Preserve recoverable copies and return them to usable condition where practical.
04 — Redistribution: Redirect suitable surplus copies to people or institutions that can use them.
05 — Respectful Final Handling: Where no preservation path remains, proceed only through approved guidance and authorised procedure.
Qur’an preservation is a shared community responsibility.
A sustainable solution depends on cooperation among masjids, madrasas, families, institutions, scholars and volunteers.
A masjid or institution may participate as a future Collection Point, support awareness activity, assist with safe temporary storage, or contribute through approved volunteer roles.
Sensitive decisions should be governed by qualified and approved guidance.
Classification, restoration, redistribution and final handling should not be based on personal assumptions.
QP Network aims to operate with qualified scholarly guidance, written SOPs, training, documentation and periodic review. The website is not a personal fatwa service.
Entrusting Mushafs, Islamic books and support to the network is part of our shared responsibility toward the Qur’an.
Everyone can contribute through responsible cooperation in collection, transport, repair and restoration, redistribution, final processing and volunteer service for unusable Mushafs.
“Be part of the Qur’an preservation mission”
You can take part in a mission that preserves the Qur’an with respect, safely collects and handles unusable Qur’anic material, and carries it through the appropriate final process. Your participation helps extend Qur’an preservation efforts to more people and supports the long-term continuity of this service.

A small act of care can prevent a Mushaf from entering ordinary waste.
If you have an old, torn, damaged or unused Qur’an at home, in a masjid, madrasa or institution, keep it separate from ordinary waste and hand it over through an approved preservation pathway.
