Quick Handling Guide

Simple first steps to follow when a damaged Mushaf is found.

  • Do not place it in ordinary waste.
  • Keep it separately in a clean and secure place.
  • If it is wet or contaminated, keep it separate from other copies.
  • Allow an opportunity to assess whether repair is possible.
  • If there is a verified collection point, hand it over there.
  • If no collection point is available, submit a doorstep collection request.
  • Do not make sensitive final-handling decisions independently.

Guidance for Households

For Mushafs lying unused at home, first consider possibilities for reuse or redistribution.

Surplus copies in good condition may be passed on to someone who needs them. Copies that can become usable through minor repairs should not be treated as unusable too quickly.

If a copy is severely damaged, keep it in secure storage and use the QP Network collection-point or doorstep-collection workflow.

Masjids & Madrasas

Periodic shelf inspections can help identify usable copies and those needing repair at an early stage.

  • Set aside a clean, separate storage area for used or damaged copies.
  • Separate surplus copies in good condition for redistribution.
  • Separate copies with minor damage for the repair category.
  • Where there is a collection-point partnership, maintain approved handover records.
  • Provide children and students with awareness on respectful handling.
Collection Point Quick Guide

Receiving a collection does not give authority to make final decisions.

  • Use clean, dry and dedicated secure storage.
  • Handle wet or contaminated material separately.
  • Record quantity, source and handover details to the required extent.
  • Do not divert collected material for personal use.
  • Do not carry out unauthorised redistribution or final handling.
  • Follow the QP Network approved handover procedure.

Volunteer Quick Guide

Volunteer service requires trustworthiness, privacy and compliance with approved operating procedures.

  • Keep the personal information of doorstep-collection requesters confidential.
  • Do not collect material unless you have an assigned responsibility.
  • Separate approval is required before undertaking financial collection.
  • If asked for a religious ruling, do not give a personal opinion; refer the matter for qualified review.
  • Report incidents or deviations to the team.

Awareness Resources

Community awareness should be simple, respectful and accurate.

The core awareness message is to keep aged or damaged Mushafs out of ordinary waste streams, give them an opportunity for preservation, repair or redistribution, and use approved handling processes.

QP Network’s approach is to provide clear, practical guidance rather than using fear, exaggeration or unverified figures.
