Placement of the Du‘a said before entering
The main board in the photograph reminds users of the Du‘a said when entering a toilet. The key concern is that the board intended to be read is already positioned inside the toilet area.
Special care is required in deciding where boards, books and other materials containing Allah’s name, Du‘as, Qur’anic verses, Hadith text and other religious writing are placed, how they are stored, and how they are handled when no longer in use.
The photographs show boards containing Arabic Du‘as, with Allah’s name clearly visible, installed near urinals and the toilet area. Such boards may have been placed with the good intention of reminding users of religious supplications. Good intention alone, however, is not sufficient; the location in which sacred wording is displayed also matters.
Because a toilet is a private place used for removing impurity, permanently displaying text containing Allah’s name inside it raises a serious question of respect and appropriate placement.
The walls in the photographs also show substantial dampness, water staining and mould-like growth. This increases the risk of damage to boards carrying religious text.
Photographs taken from different angles of the same location make the placement issue clearer.
Based on these photographs, QP Network does not state that all the Arabic wording shown consists of Qur’anic verses .
However, the photographs clearly show Allah’s name and religious Du‘as , so the situation should be treated seriously as an awareness issue concerning respect for sacred religious text and proper placement.
The main board in the photograph reminds users of the Du‘a said when entering a toilet. The key concern is that the board intended to be read is already positioned inside the toilet area.
Another board appears to relate to the Du‘a said after leaving the toilet. A reminder of this kind is more appropriately placed in a clean area outside the toilet.
Regardless of whether a user reads the Du‘a, a board printed with Allah’s name remains permanently inside the toilet area. The concern is therefore not limited to an individual action; it is also an installation-level issue.
The walls show dampness and mould-like staining. In such an environment, boards containing religious text may be exposed to deterioration and contamination.
The aim is respectful correction—not accusation or public humiliation.
Calmly and respectfully inform the Masjid committee, institution management, building administrator or other responsible person.
Consider moving the board to a clean location outside the toilet entrance, consistent with the time and place in which the Du‘a is to be said.
When removing an old or damaged board containing Allah’s name or sacred religious text, do not treat it as ordinary waste; seek appropriate religious guidance for respectful handling.
If help is required to relocate or handle the item appropriately, you may send QP Network a photograph, location and institution details.
Qur’an Preservation Network’s role does not end with collecting Qur’an copies. It also includes building awareness so that materials containing Allah’s name, Qur’anic verses, Du‘as and other religious text are treated with due respect when used, relocated or retired.
Provide appropriate awareness at Masjid, Madrasa, institution and household levels.
Provide a responsible route for reporting religious text found in unsuitable locations.
Refer issues to Shariah & Compliance guidance when required.
Before installation, check where signage containing Arabic text, Allah’s name, Qur’anic verses, Hadith or Du‘as will be placed.
For Du‘as relating to the toilet, signage should be positioned with the appropriate time and place of recitation in mind.
Periodically check for dampness, mould, tearing, fading letters or other deterioration.
When replacing old signage containing sacred text, use a protocol for safe removal, temporary storage and respectful final handling.
If you find materials containing Allah’s name, Qur’anic wording, Du‘as or other sacred religious text in unsuitable places such as toilets, waste areas, floors or neglected storage spaces, you may inform QP Network.
